Travel Thursday – Paris Mon Amour !

Hi friends, after two very hectic weeks due to school holidays (I’m sure my fellow parents among you will sympathise…) and sick kids, I’m back today with the first of two new posts ! Today is not only Travel Thursday but also World Book Day – but first things first…

A few weeks ago I posted my first Paris travel post here, featuring some of my favorite night shots from a long and wonderful weekend in the City of Light. Well, today I’m sharing some more Paris impressions with you, this time taken during the day. Enjoy !

LittlestarblogParis1LittlestarblogParis2 LittlestarblogParis3 LittlestarblogParis4As you can see, Paris was rather cloudy but to be honest, I quite like the dramatic look of a cloudy sky and when you travel to Paris you don’t really expect to see sunshine and a blue sky anyway – this breathtaking metropolis shines enough as it is !

LittlestarblogParis5Okay, this will probably sound very, very nerdy to you but I have a confession to make: one of my favorite Paris moments was when I literally stumbled over the the famous (well, at least in literally circles) Théâtre de la Huchette in the 5th arrondissement and totally fan-girled over it !! As the daughter of two Romanian, Francophile, literature-loving parents I couldn’t help but grow up with a deep appreciation for French classics and authors like Charles Baudelaire, Simone de Beauvoir , Albert Camus, Alexandre Dumas (both father and son), Gustave Flaubert, Victor Hugo, Jean Baptiste Molière, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Jean Paul Sartre, Jules Verne and of course – Eugen Ionesco… In fact I love the Théâtre de l’Absurde and how cool is it that this little theatre has played two of my favorite Ionesco plays consecutively since 1957 ! It truly boggles my nerdy, literature-addicted mind ! I love this tiny moment I was able to capture – while I was looking through my lens I kept wondering whether the people waiting in front of the theatre were reading one of Ionescos plays right then and there…

LittlestarblogParis6Another thing I love doing in Paris is people-watching ! People-watching is so much fun, it should be a national sport somewhere… Little old Munich is known for many things but diversity in any aspect of life is not one of them so whenever I am someplace else, I just soak up on the colorful fashions, the unique individuals who cross my path (and my lens), the snippets of many different languages, bits and pieces of new music and of course food – so. much. food.
