Good morning everyone ! Monday morning is here and today I would like to use my Music Monday post to introduce you to Canada’s version of Music Monday… The Coalition for Music Education , a Canadian organization working to improve the state of music education throughout Canada, has just partnered with CBC Music and the Canadian Space Agency to take Music Monday to new heights – SPACE !
Since it was founded in 1992 by representatives of more than 20 music education organizations The Coalition has developed many different ways and programs that help promote music in schools. Their annual signature event is Music Monday which unites hundreds of thousands of young people through their schools and communities for a simultaneous musical event on the first Monday of May.
“Filling the Skies with Music”, the motto of this years Music Monday edition promises to take the event to new heights as Astronaut Chris Hadfield and Barenaked Ladies frontman Ed Robertson will collaborate between earth and space to co-write the official 2013 Music Monday song. Hadfield will then play the finished song from the International Space Station and Robertson and a youth choir will join him in song here on earth .
You can watch a developing series of CBC Music videos about their collaboration progress here, take a first look in the video below and stay tuned for May 6 !!! 🙂
