As the American University Professor John M. Richardson Jr. has famously said “When it comes to the future, there are three kinds of people: those who let it happen, those who make it happen, and those who wonder what happened.”
Invisible Children, the non-profit organization founded by Jason Russell, Bobby Bailey and Laren Poole that has made it it’s main goal to fight the atrocities committed by Ugandan warlord Joseph Kony and his Lord’s Resistance Army, is shaping the future as you read this.
They have recently released the half-hour documentary KONY 2012 and in the last 48 hours their video has gone viral ! Invisible Children’s aim is to use the internet and social media platforms to set a precedent for international justice and raise support for the arrest of Joseph Kony, who is wanted by the ICC for the enslavement of more than more than 30,000 children over his three-decade long rain of terror in Uganda, among other charges !
This unique approach to advocacy and fund-raising through the use of viral media is proof of the changing world we live in and it makes it so much easier for all of us to be involved in something meaningful, something bigger, something that is only one mouse click away…
The future really is happening now so do your share to make it just a tiny bit better – watch the documentary below and sign the online pledge and/or donate here !
